The Teachers College Reading & Writing Project is pleased to offer the 7th Annual Coaching Institute. This institute will offer educators the chance to study TCRWP’s methods of staff development in reading, focusing especially on the Common Core’s call for us to accelerate reading development. There will be a specific emphasis on using performance assessments to ratchet up the level of comprehension and rigor in reading workshop as well as to ensure school-wide consistency and growth.

Who: Participants will include literacy coaches, principals, lead teachers, or literacy leaders in other roles from New York City and across the country. Those who join us will work in either beginning or advanced sections. Advanced sections are not based on skill level, but on whether or not you have attended a previous coaching institute. You must meet one of the following qualifications to apply to an advanced section: you work as a NYC coach and have enrolled in a coaching course, you participated in an advanced section in a coaching institute, or you have attended a beginning coaching course in addition to having attended a summer reading institute. All other participants should apply to the first year sections.

Where:This Institute will take place both within schools across New York City and at the Teachers College Campus.
